Women, Caffeine, Cancer, and the Reduced Risk of Stroke

How many cups of coffee do you drink each day? If you are drinking coffee on a daily basis, you may actually be helping yourself out! There seem to be benefits with your morning coffee. There is not only the energy boost you get, but there are health benefits as well. A study that was conducted recently has shown that drinking three to five cups of coffee per day was shown to reduce the risk of Alzheimer’s disease, Diabetes, Liver Disease, Parkinson’s disease, and even cancer. Caffeine in the morning, whether it is from a powder or a beverage, can increase your memory retention and improve your attention span.
You may be happy about the health benefits you receive from your daily coffee, however there also may be a negative aspect as well. There is a higher risk of cholesterol due to the natural chemicals that come from the coffee bean itself. The chemicals are cafestol and kahweol. It has been shown that these two chemicals increase cholesterol in your blood and are actually linked to heart disease. Using a caffeine powder may take the risk out completely. This is due to there is no coffee bean. Another great thing about caffeine powder is that you can add it to any type of beverage or food that you prefer.
There has been another discovery on the benefits of caffeine. There seems to be a reduction of strokes in middle-age women or older. The Swedish researchers were conducting a study on the effects of caffeine on women and the health benefits. They found that women who consume one or more cups of coffee per day were less likely to have a stroke compared to those who don’t drink coffee.
The study was done over a ten year period of time, and there were 35,000 participants, all women. The ages were from 49 to 83 years old. The study shockingly discovered that women who drank coffee daily had a 25 percent lower risk of stroke compared to the women who did not drink coffee daily.
Even though the study results are still being deliberated, however the consensus is that there is a reduction of strokes, and it is due to the effects of caffeine and coffee. There seems to be a reduction of inflammation and also an increase of responsiveness to insulin which creates a lower risk of stroke.
Though there may be benefits to your daily caffeine intake, moderation is the key. Coffee does have addictive qualities to it, and the effects of the coffee bean can cause health problems. If taken moderately, the benefits of your daily energy boost are there for you.

Coffee Can Lower Risk in Prostate Cancer

A study recently has show that men who drink coffee on a regular basis, seem to have a lower risk of Prostrate cancer.  It has been show that the effects of caffeine and coffee can lower the risk even in the more lethal form of prostate cancer as well.

After tracking more than 47,000 men from 1986 to 2006, researchers found that in all forms of prostate cancer, the highest of the coffee drinkers had an incredible 20% lower risk of getting prostate cancer.  The researcher, Lorelei Mucci, an associate professor of epidemiology at the Harvard School of Public Health concluded that the 20% lower risk was found in those men who drank six or more cups of coffee daily, compared to those who drank none.

Coffe even fought against the more lethal form of prostate cancer.  those who drank one to three cups each day, the risk dropped 29% compared to those who did not drink any at all. Somehow the risk even hwas the same for both caffeinated and decaffeinated coffee. For those who drank more than three cups, even up to six cups daily, the rick reduction was 60% compared to the non-drinkers.  It seems that it may not just be the caffeine that fights the risk, but the coffee bean as well. In the study, 5,035 men developed prostate cancer, including the lethal forms of cancer.

There were still risk factors in those who smoked and had a heavy weight, so although there may be some protection from drinking coffee, not smoking and a good diet still are a better way to stay healthy. The findings still need to be validated by other independent studies, but it is promising that drinking your cup of coffee, can have positive effects on your body and health.
